Interview with M.P.
IT systems consultant
participant in year 2000 PRIDE ™ program
My Expectations
Wanted to be “On the Record” as an employee that was interested in
Career Development, Leadership Skills and Skills Enrichment |
Program Exceeded my expectations |
Impressed with the level of instruction and facilitation. |
‘It wasn’t just seminars” – interactivity encouraged team work
and lead to connectivity with other participants. |
Role Playing was a real benefit to my participation – it was a
non-threatening opportunity to practice key skills. |
Networking with other consultants – improved teamwork, good source for
other solutions for clients |
Favorite Modules:
Project management – keyed into my next phase of development - a real skill I could apply on the job and have used project
management organization skills in expanded assignments in that
area. I view this as necessary to a management position at
<Name of Employer.> |
Developed new skills in Proposal Writing, more organized. To me it was a needed
skill enhancer – not a fun thing I do but Program allowed me to do it faster and with better content. |
Most surprising module was Conflict Management – actual in workplace
situation at <Name of client company where he was managing a
project> came out well because of the skill overall |
Changes I Incorporated at Work
Communication techniques are used everyday – More appropriate, concise and
clear communications with client. |
Use more tact and it’s done in a different way than I used to
communicate, specifically in Project Management situations. |
Investment/Worth-Benefits:
Personal
More confident – I can easily determine opportunities and that I can
‘do the job’ |
Formed a real support network with other attendees. |
Broader exposure to management |
Received recognition “Reward in Place” for the new business and this
flags me to senior management. |
Company
New business generated by my efforts |
Identifies employees that are ready for advancement. |
Understanding by employees on how and why decisions are made by management –
we know why things happen the way they do. |
Solution orientated employees, rather than complaining victims. |
How Did I Feel About The Commitment Program – Partnering With Others On
A Project. (Weekly Form)
Facilitators made it understood that this was a serious part of the program. |
I was engaged into working with others – not a usual situation in
my job. Formed lasting relationships. |
We (partner) put things into action – didn’t do it alone. |
Like the cross-training experience with different disciplines –
discussions on issues in different company practice areas. |
Felt it was OK to contact management for assistance and guidance |
Overall Comments
 | One of the best experiences I have been through
 | I thought the total length (8-9 months) and the in-between week
was just right for the type of our workplace.
 | 3 hour
‘bursts’ really good – tired at the end of the day but stayed
stimulated for 3 hours.
